Style guide and best practices for creating Libguides

Create a New Guide

Creating a Guide - Settings:

Select "New" or "Reuse"
Write out "Guide Name" (see Page Naming Conventions Box)
Provide a brief but accurate "Guide Description"
Select "Guide Type"
Choose Navigation Style (Top or Side is acceptable. Keep in mind that top navigation is the default and accomodates more content)
Select the CREATE button

Profile Boxes/ Help Boxes

Delete the profile box if it automatically loads in your guide
Librarian Profiles should only show up on the Libguides homepage.
Each guide should have a Library Help box, you can use an existing box - see Reuse & Storage page for these.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO MONITOR YOUR GUIDES ON A REGULAR BASIS!

Things change: Set a schedule to check yearly and revise/update ALL CONTENT including books, links, and videos
Use the "link checker" under the Tools option in the orange dashboard
Add a reminder to your calendar.
Your guides may be subject to deletion after five years if they do not get regular check-ups.
