Learning Styles

  • Visual  Auditory  Kinesthetic   Reading-Writing
  • Musical,  Logical,   Natural,  Linguistic,  Social
  • Activist,  Reflector,  Theorist,  Pragmatist
  • Cognitive,  Affective,  Physiological
  • Avoidant, Participative, Competitive, Collaborative, Dependent, Independent

And there are more catagories of processing information.   A 2009 literature review by the Psychological Science in the Public  "found virtually no evidence" supporting the idea that "instruction is best provided in a format that matches the preference of the learner."  So, why are "learning style" approaches so popular?    Differences among people should be acknowledged.  Learning styles can be a springboard to inform teaching and various teaching approaches create more avenues to connect with students and facilitate learning.

So then,  What is the best way to learn?
