  • How do I print?

1. Get a free, Easy Print token, also called a fob. These are available in the lobby of the library at Mount Vernon, and at both campus libraries' circulation desk.

2. Go to a printer or Print Registration Kiosk in either campus library, Ford 104, Lewis 221, and register your fob to your account by placing the round token on the RFID reader, and then associating the fob with your account - you will be asked to enter for full svc email address (be sure to include @mysvc.skagit.edu) and your password. Click "Associate" to associate your account. Now you are ready to print. To do special characters, use the keyboard and press the shift key - don't use the Keypad.

3. To print out a document, hit CTRL-P or Print on a campus computer (personal laptops or devices cannot connect to print at this time) and then place your printer fob on the RFID Reader. A list of your print jobs will appear on the printer display and you can then touch print to print. You can release your print job from any of the printers on either campus that is connected to the system/ At Mount Vernon, these are in A137, A146, A203, A229, C50, F104 (color), F110, F112, F212, L125, L130, L203, L221, L330, S105 (Library - color). At Whidbey, they are in B125, H100, H123, A227, A115, B116.

4. Be sure to hang onto your fob. Fobs will stick to any surface (be sure not to stick them on anything magentized). If you do lose it, pick up another one and re-register it to your account. Each student is allowed one free replacement token.

  • How do I cite an article from an online database?

Most of the library's databases, including Academic Search Premier and ProQuest Direct, will do much of the work of citing articles for you. When you email an article to yourself, you will have the option of including a citation in MLA, APA or other format. When you looking at an article in either database you will also see an option to "Cite" the article, along with saving, emailing or printing it. That "Cite" option is what will allow you to see how the article should be cited in your paper. Please note that Science Direct does not have this option available. OneSearch does have a citation function. When you click on a record in OneSearch, click on the picture of the quotation marks " to see the citation in APA, Chicago or MLA format. You can copy the citation and then paste it into a Word document.

For more information on citing sources from databases, print, web or other, go to the library's "Citing Sources" page.
